Finally got some decent tires on the Taco. Went with class C 265/75/16 Duratracs. Much improved from the BFG Rugged Trails 265/70/16. Going to lose a little bit of torque like 3%, insignificant if you ask me.

I took a chunk out of the sidewall on the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I did not want to rely upon that tire when I'm overlanding this weekend in Capitol Reef and around that area.

Here it was before, looks pretty wussy.

Nice choice. I run BFG A/Ts. What sliders are on your Taco?

I had BFG A/Ts on my last truck, '98 Mazda B4000, they didn't last very long so they pissed me off but then I had an alignment check and my camber was way off. I think the ball joints were bad in the lower control arm that put everything out of whack. Can't expect tires to last long in that kind of condition.

My sliders are from Rocky Road. They are in Heber City Utah. I like the design and they are local(no shipping). My friend and I bought ours together so we got a 15% discount. I have been happy with them. Got them them on right before this trip good thing or I would have had a deformed rocker panel for sure.

its tough to see in that picture, but Im liking the way they fill the wheel wells. can't wait to see them, how are they for road noise and handling so far? don't forget break in

They look nice and tight to the body, nice of em to give you a discount. I have BAMF sliders on my long bed. I really like the kick out, saved my bedside from tagging a tree, couldn't say the same about my bumper though.

What's the build on your truck look like, your plans?

BAMF sliders are the coolest. I really would have gone with those if I lived in the bay area. I really like their design.

So far my plans are realistic. Old man emu suspension with dakar rear leaf pack and OME 885s on the front. Love to have a rear bumper with the spare tire rack and jerry can mounts and of course a front bumper like relentless fabrication or ARB. But that's way down the road or I stumble upon a ton of money.

Unrealistic plans are King of Fox suspension. 33 tires and regearing to 4.11. I will continue to dream though

I'll get in half the break period before I get off road next week. But I plan on not doing any fast breaking or cornering in that time.

I want to go ARB air lockers F/R and a regear when I step up to a 33, thankfully my current tires have excellent tread life so hopefully it's further down the road.

I have a lot of ideas for the rear bumper, I play with a really decked out set up like you were talking about, but sometimes I wonder if a simple steel one is right for my set up.

During holiday seasons lots of vendors have sales on shocks, etc. I know Down South Motorsports lets their discount codes apply to their stock of King, Icon and Fox shocks.

I got the TRD Off Road package. So I have the rear e-lockers in the rear and A-trac in the front. Seems to be working very well. The A-trac is kind of jumpy but it's gotten more over any terrain I have attempted to go across.

Also after I bought these tires my wife told me for fathers day/my birthday she was going to buy me a lift kit. I just spent a grand on these tires and that is what OME would have cost me so the lift is going to have to wait. I told her it was a good thing because the lift would have looked lame with those Rugged Trails. Tires need to come first or buy them at the same time.

I am glad you are doing it right when it comes to re-gearing with 33in tires. I think it pointless to size up and then lose all of that torque without re-gearing..huge pet peeve. I wouldn't think anyone would size up just to get better mileage.

A couple months ago on Tacoma World I saw a group buy for Icon suspension. I can't remember if it was Icon themselves or a supplier. Still with a 20% discount it was more than what I wanted to spend. I have seen deals like that at Down South too. I am going to see if Rocky Road can hook me up with a "locals" discount for the lift kit too.

As we noticed on our white rim trip my friends TJM where heating up. We were driving all day and it was fairly light overlanding but the Icon/Fox/King emote reservoir shocks would be helpful.

I've used TW for most of the purchases on my truck. Unfortunately, I missed all of the GBs of Pelfrybilt bumpers after I hit the tree so I payed in full for my bumper. Still, not a bad price though.

Wheeling on the stock suspension was fun, I'm not sure if the Sport shocks vary much from the Off-Road shocks, but they certainly surprised me and the other members of my 4x4 club. Gotta hand it to Toyota, out of the box, these trucks are pretty impressive.
